Losing Weight After Pregnancy: Hillary Duff Intends to Lose Her Baby Weight Slow and Steady

2 Lovely Thoughts
It seems like a standard for a celebrity mom to lose weight so fast after having a baby. Beyonce lost an amazing 27kg just 4 months after giving birth.

birth to her son. Image from Why Fame

It's understandable that celebrity would want to lose weight fast after pregnancy because of their celebrity status put them in the judgmental public eye most of the time. Taking a positive attitude like fellow celebrity mom Aishwarya Rai, Hillary Duff is not worry at all about losing the baby weight in miracle time.
I think if you ask any pregnant mom, they're like 'I want my body back,' but it takes time.

It takes nine months for your body to get that way and it's putting on that weight on purpose. The second I start to get down like 'what happened to my body,' I look at my beautiful baby and I've never been more appreciative for the body that I have

Losing Weight After Pregnancy: Aishwarya Rai Is In No Rush to Lose the Baby Weight

2 Lovely Thoughts
The Most Beautiful Woman in the World: Moments when Aishwarya
was crowned Miss World in 1994. Image from Aishwarya Rai Blog

She won Miss World title in 1994. Often dubbed by the media as the most beautiful woman in the world. Even most famous Hollywood star, Julia Roberts agree and once named her as the world's most beautiful woman. But after giving birth to a baby girl last year's November, Aishwarya Rai face heavy critics from fans for not losing her baby weight fast enough.

6 months after giving birth. Image from Daily Mail

Unlike fellow celebrity mom like Victoria Beckham who fit into body-hugging dress just after weeks giving birth, the former beauty queen turn actress is seems comfortable to take a slow approach when it comes to lose the baby weight.

Many mothers feel pressure to lose their baby weight fast, moreover when they were sold bunch of stories of super slim celebrity mom who lose the baby weight straight after birth.

Public Interest: Aishwarya's post baby picture is causing a serious stir

But for Aishwarya, she simply wanted to enjoy motherhood, hence no rush to lose the baby weight. She is not surprise when she was blasted for not losing the baby weight fast, because she knows that in the show business industry, it comes as standard when an actress becomes a mother the focus isn't on her health, it's how fast she lost her weight. Instead of losing weight fast, she choose to give top priority on her baby, Aaradhya and her family.

Glowing mum: Aishwarya's picture after her pregnancy news hit headlines

I personally think that Aishwarya is just keeping it real. She is an inspiration to real mothers. She set a good example to real mothers who struggle and feel the tension of losing weight fast after giving birth. It's unfair, and rediculous pressure to put mothers to lose weight quickly after giving birth at an already stressful time. Weight loss after birth takes time. New mothers need time to adjust to her new role and to care for and bond with the newly born baby.
I don't worry about this (lose weight fast after giving birth); to me, the well-being and the health of my family is more important than focusing on going back to my pre-pregnancy body in miracle time. It should not be taken to extremes.

Don't be too hard on yourself, and take time to relax and connect with your newborn (Aaradhya). At times this seems impossible but it's an essential part of juggling motherhood and a career successfully.

And no matter what you do, don't forget about yourself. I believe that when you look good, you feel good and more confident, so caring for your hair, skin and body should not stop. If anything, you should do more of that so you are refreshed and positive when you're around your child and family.

Boost Weight Loss with Yogurt: 5 Ways to Incorporate Yogurt Into Your Diet

2 Lovely Thoughts
I never liked yogurt before.

source
The first time I tried it was when I saw my housemate (back on college days) eating yogurt like she's eating ice cream. It look really delicious and yummy.

But seriously, I threw up because the yogurt taste horrible for me. I started to eat yogurt again during my first pregnancy. A friend suggested that yogurt is great for expectant mother. Slowly, I become used to the smell and taste of yogurt. Today, I always enjoy my daily yogurt.

From several studies, yogurt has been found effective in boosting the immune system. But that's not all. Lactobacteria, a bacterium found in live-culture yogurt promotes the growth of friendly bacteria in the colon. A good bacteria is essential for healthy digestive system and sustained weight loss. Adding a daily dose of yogurt in your diet can help to boost your weight loss effort.

Yogurt might seem boring for some people, but hey, Australian Lifestyle & Fitness come up with 5 creative ways to incorporate yogurt into your diet.

1. Yogurt smoothie
Use plain natural yogurt into your smoothie to enhance the taste of your fruit smoothie.

2. Substitute low fat Greek yogurt for mayonnaise
Instead of mayonnaise, use yogurt as a substitute in creamy tuna salad, chicken salad or egg salad. Yogurt is also an excellent substitute for sour cream in most dishes.

3. Eat it plain
Sprinkle it with some of your favourite toppings like fresh fruit, cinnamon, dark chocolate chips, or honey. Greek yogurt is especially delicious and often eaten with honey.

4. Eat yogurt with cereal
Tried cereal with yogurt. Compare to milk, yogurt is more digestible. You can also eat it with muesli and berries for a hearty and filling breakfast.

5. Frozen yogurt
Make frozen yogurt and eat it in place of fatty, high calorie ice cream.

Frozen yogurt is my top favorite. If you have any other creative ideas on how to include yogurt into diet, don't hesitate to share it here. You might have some delicious yogurt smoothie recipes that I could try.

Weight Loss Success Stories: How a 170kg Lazy Gamer Lost 36kg In 6 Months

Be the first to comment!

If you read my previous weight loss success story post, you'll know that Raycheal lost 36kg in 6 months by avoiding rice and jogging regularly. But this video game journalist who enjoy eating and staying seated for a long period, drop 36kg in 6 months without regular exercise or surgery. He did not completely stop eating fast food. So, how did he do that? Mike Fahey weighed 170kg at his heaviest with his 6'6" (198cm) frame.

He shares this 3 simple steps in KotaKu that are easy to follow.

Tip No 1: See Your Doctor
Seeing the doctor when you’re grossly overweight is no fun whatsoever. The only thing worse than someone making fun of your weight is someone making sense of it, something doctors do with frustrating regularity. They understand the health risks. They’ve seen the damage done. They may have even had patients die because they were too big. So when they bring the full weight of years of experience to bear on you with that disapproving look, own it. There’s a reason you’re disappointing your doctor, and there’s a way to make them happy. Whatever you do, don’t look the number up on the internet. We’ve all got different bodies, so going off a generic chart is a recipe for failure, disaster, or weight loss that isn’t nearly as healthy as it seems.

Tip No 2: Grab a Calorie-Counting App
MyNetDiary for the iPhone is my constant companion these days. Armed with my calorie target and the fitness app, my eating habits have transformed from stuffing my face whenever I can to “How much can I fit in this 2200 calorie box?” It’s a game, essentially. I eat breakfast, enter in the calories (MyNetDiary features a handy bar code scanner and a built-in food look-up), and then get a figure telling me how much more I can eat that day. There’s strategy involved here.

Tip No 3: Change the Way You Think About Eating
Easier said than done, right? For me this is less of a step than it is a side-effect of the entire process. I used to eat what I wanted, when I wanted. I am a grown-up, I have the income, why shouldn’t I? Well, not only is that unhealthy, I was denying myself one of the best parts of the dining experience: the anticipation. Looking forward to the next day, when I would have room for a couple of slices of pizza. Planning a date on the weekend to go out to a nice restaurant. Eating is an event now, instead of an automatic process. It’s exciting. I look forward to it every day. It sounds ridiculous, but it’s true. And that’s really all I’ve done. I set aside one day a week to cheat; half the time I don’t even use it. I watch the kilos go down. I enter them in my application. I watch the stats drop. I play the game. And it’s worked for me.

Eating Yogurt to Lose Weight: How Does Yogurt Help with Weight Loss

Be the first to comment!
Eating yogurt has been associated with good health for many years.

Some studies show that consuming three eight ounce servings of low fat yogurt each day can help you lose weight, especially in the belly area.

Yogurt is calcium-rich food and excellent source of protein. But how does yogurt make you lose weight? This is an interesting report from Huffington Post about how does incorporating yogurt into your diet make you lose weight.
Researchers at the University of Knoxville have found that dietary calcium directly influence your weight loss efforts. High calcium foods, notably dairy sources, have been shown to increase body fat breakdown and preserve metabolism during dieting. High levels of calcium will also help your body get younger by building strong bones. This study suggests eating three servings of dairy products a day to get the most benefit.

Increasing your calcium intake can also directly reduce belly fat. A study presented at the Obesity Society Meeting of 2007 showed significant abdominal fat reduction following calcium supplementation. During the course of the seven week study, participants ate 3-4 servings of dairy foods each day. The data showed that an exercise program combined with a reduced calorie diet, and an increase in dairy consumption changed metabolism significantly enough to effect the amount of body fat burned.

You also want to focus on foods that are high in protein. Your body needs lot of protein so you will feel full and satisfied all day long, so you won't binge on the easy-to-eat carbs you may crave. Protein also gives you the energy you need to keep up with an exercise program that will burn lots of calories.

Eating calcium and protein-rich foods together seems to be the best cocktail for weight loss. When combined, these two nutrient groups have been clinically proven to raise metabolic rate and improve digestion and bowel health.

One food group that is high in both these nutrient groups is dairy. However, dairy foods that contain lots of calcium, and lots of protein, are usually high in fat as well as calories, making them a bad choice for dieters. I've also found a correlation between eating large amounts of cheese and other high-fat foods to increased cellulite production. Because of these reasons, I find most people who are overweight cannot afford to increase their dairy consumption at all.

But yogurt is the exception to the rule. Yogurt is a low-fat food packed with calcium as well as protein. It provides all the benefits of dairy without the added fat or calories, and actually contains more calcium and protein per serving than other dairy product because of the way it is made.

Eating yogurt every day can also support your immune system, reducing overall inflammation. It is also know to lower LDL "bad" cholesterol. Lastly, many adults have problems digesting milk products because their bodies do not produce enough of the enzyme lactase. Yogurt naturally contains lactase, making it a healthy alternative for those who can't tolerate other milk products.

So, what you're waitin' for? Include yogurt in your diet today and enjoy weight loss success!

Day 6 on a 40 days of Water Fasting: Hungry, Weak and Shaky on a Water Fast

Be the first to comment!
Today is my day 6 on a water fast.
source
Yesterday I was feeling slightly weak, but this morning it hit full force. I woke up this morning and immediately feel weak, hungry and I was shaking.

I know that fasting blackouts and dizziness are common on a water fast. They are due to increased levels of toxins circulating in the blood and from low blood sugar and lowered blood pressure. The body conserves energy during a water fast and slows all the organs including the heart. When you stand, the blood pools in the legs. It always takes more time for the blood to reach the head because everything has slowed down, including the rate of the heart beat, so blood pressure probably has dropped. The blood sugar does reestablish a new equilibrium in the second and third week and then the dizziness may cease.

source
To avoid blackout, I take a few minutes lying on bed and breathe deeply. I stand up very slowly, moving from a lying to a sitting position, pausing there for twenty seconds, and then rising slowly to a standing position. This is the trick to lower our body’s center of gravity to balance our blood pressure and get blood back to the brain.

But the dizziness didn't cease immediately, I'm still shaking. At that time, the kids are crying and fighting with each other, seeking for my quick attention. It's breakfast time and they haven't had one yet so I get them and their father durian roll cakes and tausa piang for breakfast because they are simple and easy to prepare. My husband complaint that I should eat a little bit when he sees me losing my temper, and yelling at the fighting kids.

I took his complaint seriously.

Yes, weakness and hunger feeling make me bad tempered.

I have kids to look after, and I can't expect for them to behave good while I restore my energy on bed. This may be a crime in a water fast, but I'll grab a slice of durian roll cake to get a weakness quick fix this morning. I'm too weak to make salads or juicing.

I may end up miserable today, but I don't want to feel discourage so I decided to just get back on track.

What actually happens when we cheat on a water fast?

Day 5 on a 40 Days Water Fast: 7 Quick Tips to Survive a Water Fast

Be the first to comment!
Day 5.

The ulcer on my tongue is gone today. I must say that I'm such an impatient dieter. I thought that a fasting buddy might be a great aid to motivation. Where to find a fasting buddy?

Feeling hungry for the first few days is a common stages in a water fast. That's what I'm feeling right now. I feel slightly weak, so I skip workout today. This hunger strikes reminds me of those funny Snicker commercial. The commercial go with a tagline "You are not you when you are hungry".

So true.

When you are hungry you tend to loose your patience and get irritated, you'll easily become angry. I found this water fasting tips on Pro Ana that I thought helpful to survive a water fast.

1. Try to get plenty of sleep.
If you can't stand your stomach growling the first few days, and are tired of downing the H20, take a nap.
listen to some soothing music and drift off.

2. Get a massage.
source
If you can afford it, or have your partner or a close friend give you a good rub down or deep tissue massage. This really soothes muscles and makes you calm and sleepy. It helps when you're having trouble sleeping due to hunger during your fast. Plus, it awakens your body, pushes the blood around, etc.

3. Black outs
Be careful of black outs and don't exercise until you've finished the fast. Stick to stretching, light walking and deep breathing.

4. For diabetes, hypoglycemia patient
If you suffer from diabetes, hypoglycemia or other similar conditions, please be very, very careful fasting. I'd say don't fast at all but if you feel you can do it safely, you may need a slice of avocado or a banana. You could also add protein powder to your juices.

5. Back pain
Sometimes during a fast, the person will experience back pain. If so, a cold pack will help.

6. Canker sores
Canker sores can be healed quicker by dabbing tea tree oil or vitamin E on it.

7. Juice fast
If you are just too tired on your water fast, go to a juice fast and if you are already juicing, drink more carrot and melon juices for energy. Water fasts are always the hardest but fastest for weight loss and detox. Juice fast is next best and somewhat easier, especially for first time fasters.
You'll lose pounds faster if you have a fast metabolism and slower if you have a slower metabolism. On average, fasts allow you to lose 1-2 lbs per day. Some experience more around 3-5 lbs per day. You'll lose the most and the quickest during the beginning of your fast.
I think this Snickers commercial with Betty White is pretty funny. Just thought I'd share this.

Weight Loss Success Stories: Real Mom Lost 69 lbs After Pregnancy

2 Lovely Thoughts
Losing weight is a concern for many mothers after the birth of a baby. Although it's a normal thing to gain weight after giving birth, women tend to be pressure to lose weight quickly after a baby when seeing celebrity mom like Beyonce seemingly lose her post-baby weight almost immediately. How do celebrity moms like Beyonce bounce back into shape so quickly? Their high-profile celebrity status make them highly motivated to lose the weight. They hire trainers, nutritionists, and full-time nannies to help them get their bodies in red carpet shape fast. Do you think "normal" mom can achieve the same success?

Mandi Durborough, a stay-at-home mom with two kids proves that losing weight after a baby is possible. She exclusively tells Healthy Beautiful Blog about her amazing weight loss. As a mom on my own weight loss journey, this is so inspiring! You can read Mandi's weight loss series on her blog Debonair Bandit.

Get ready to be inspired!

Healthy Beautiful Blog(HBB):What is your starting weight and current weight?
Mandi: My Starting weight was a sad 228 pounds. (103 kg) I am currently 159 pounds, (72 kg) which means I have lost 69 pounds (31 kg). Though I still have 14 pounds (6 kg) left that I would like to lose.

Before and After Weight Loss: Mandy bounce back into shape after baby

HBB: What made you decide to lose weight?
Mandi: My children. My oldest is 2 and a half and my youngest is 10 months. I knew that if I wanted to chase them around and not feel like I was dying, I needed to lose the weight. I want to lead a healthy lifestyle so as to be a role model for when my girls get older.

HBB: What challenges you facing in losing weight?
Mandi: I have a really hard time with certain foods, mainly icecream. I could eat a whole ben and jerry's if left alone with it. Though in general I have a hard time making time for working out, but I do not make excuses. If I cant do a work out during nap time, I move the time around to fit my kids schedule.

HBB: What changes you made to lose weight?
Mandi: I actually started working out regularly again and not just once every few weeks or so right after I had my second daughter. I started a 5-6 days a week work out routine. I work out when I can. I don't make excuses. I just do it. I also have changed my diet. I eat lots of fruits and vegetables. I snack on them all day long. I also eat sweet potatoes, chicken and grass fed beef a lot. I do not eat dairy, and no potatoes or beans. I rarely eat bread or any kind of grain. I also cut out as much real and artificial sugar as often as possible. I also love love love coffee {black coffee. extra strong}.

Washboard abs: Mandi lost 69lbs after baby,
prove that real mom can achieve the same success of celebrity mom.

HBB: How long does it takes to see your weight loss result?
Mandi: I honestly lost all of the weight in the first 7 months. I have just been battling these last 14 pounds for the past 3 months now.

HBB:  How has your life change after lose weight?
Mandi: Well I started running soon after I had my second daughter, and added a mile each month, By month seven I completed my very first 12k race. I finished in 1 hour and 25 minutes which I am very proud of. I am not so much proud of how slow I was but proud that I did not stop at all and that I finished that race. My life changed in the way that I make goals and finish them. I think about what food does once in goes into my body, and I can now run after my kids and chase them till they get tired and not the other way around.

HBB: How do you maintain your weight loss
Mandi: Well I still have 10 pounds that I would like to lose, but to maintain weight I would work out 5 days a week for at least 30 minutes and would watch what I eat. Maintaining weight can require just as much focus as losing weight. Being healthy is a lifestyle not a quick little fix.

The Perfect Family: Mandi and her family when she was
8 months pregnant with her second baby

HBB: Please share your best 5 weight loss tips.
1.Give yourself a shelf.
I have a shelf in the pantry and the fridge where I keep food I can eat and I eat off those shelf's only. My family can eat their foods and I am not as tempted.

2. I have 3 times a day where I can work out.
If I accidentally miss the first time I can chose a different time. Like I usually work out during nap times, but that doesn't always work out, so I can also work out after their bed time or I can take them to the park that is further always and work out there.

3. On really stressful days I work out twice as hard so I can get those endorphin high's instead of a Ben and Jerry's low...

4. Don't ever do the same work out day in day out.
Mix it up. Your body will thank you. Change it up. I am a runner and I love to run, but my knees will kill me if I run 6 days a week. Instead, I will do long distance walks or hop on my elliptical machine or try out some work out videos.

5. Take pictures of yourself before your weight loss journey.
It might be embarrassing at first, but you won't regret it later.

Fit and fabulous: Mandi with her two beautiful kids.
HBB: Please share your diet plan?
Mandi: I follow the Whole9 lifestyle for the most part. I eat fruits and vegetables all day long. I literally snack on fruit anytime I think about eating bad foods. I do not eat grains of any kind or dairy. I drink almond milk and use coconut butter and oils in most of my cooking. I try to stay away from artificial and sugars of any kind, though I wont lie. I do eat the occasional cookie or what not.

HBB: Please share your workout plan.
Mandi: I plan a 5-6 days a week work out. I will either go for a run {2-5 miles} or hop on the elliptical {40 -75 minutes} followed by stretching and yoga and strength training focusing on abs and butt and thighs for 20-30 minutes. Though I try to get in 10 minutes of ab work outs everyday.

Day 4: Exercise During a Water Fast

2 Lovely Thoughts
2 more days until the weekend, and then it will be Sunday --- after that it's a new week!

I create my very own countdown calendar, to have a fun way to count down the days to the end of my water fast. By doing this way, I will feel a little motivating to get moving and make one more call each day. Well, when I said I'm on a water fast, I guess I'm not being really honest. Because water fast is actually means eating no food and drinking only water.

Pure water only.

But I incorporate yogurt drink into my fast.

Plain yogurt. No fruits, no food whatsoever.

I drink 1 cup (5 oz) of yogurt in the morning, so I guess that is the reason why I feel less hunger. And I drink a lot of water. Believe me, the more you drink, the more you want. With little energy, I make a light 10-minutes workout to start my day today. You can water fast and still exercise. Exercise can be beneficial during a water fast. But during a water fast, you will feel weak and you may need to rest more often. If you want to exercise, do lighter sets of exercise like stretching and walking.

Don’t fall of course because you let yourself get bored with what you are eating. There are so many great resources out there for great, healthy recipes that there is no reason to find yourself eating the same things over and over again.

4. Be proud
Don’t allow yourself to make poor choices in social settings because you feel ashamed of the fact that you are watching what you eat. Be proud of the fact that you are making a positive change in your life and don’t be afraid to let the people around you know it. Those that truly care about you will support you 100%.

Mouth Ulcers: 5 Home Remedies for Mouth Ulcers

Be the first to comment!
If you've never experienced this before, mouth ulcer is a round white or yellow bump with red halos around the edge on the tongue, the lips, and the gums or inside the cheeks.

Mouth ulcers make it painful to eat and talk.
Minor mouth ulcers may be caused by irritation from braces, a sharp or broken tooth or poorly fitting dentures, accidentally biting the inside of your cheek, tongue, or lip, brushing teeth incorrectly, burning your mouth from hot food or drink or chewing tobacco. Sometimes, an iron deficiency or certain medication can also cause mouth ulcers. Apparently, mouth ulcers aren't contagious, so it's not spread through kissing or sharing utensils.

You heard it's a good idea to gargle your mouth with salt to get rid mouth or tongue ulcers, but if you have tried it and it seems didn't work for you, you may consider trying home remedies from MedIndia to treat mouth ulcers.

Day 2: Blessing in Disguise

Be the first to comment!
It's my second day on a water fast.

Ulcer on my tongue should go away by now, but it doesn't. I could barely talk it hurt. I noticed the ulcer developed yesterday.

However, good for me. A tiny ulcer on the tip of my tongue have been such a blessing in disguise. I can't stand tongue ulcers but as a matter of fact, this pain support my effort to water fast since day 1.

I am the kind of person who actually can't sit for too long without putting something in my mouth. I keep postponing my plan to water fast in the past, because of giving myself too much excuse with an 'only a bite' after a 'bite' of food, that at last I end up with a big plate of food.

Even if now, I try to cheat with 'only a bite', I can't do so anymore because of the pain.

So again, ulcer is blessing in disguise.

Looking forward for a better tomorrow!

Day 1: Water Fast Mission Impossible

Be the first to comment!
Today I embark on a 40 days water fast.

When I lose 5kg after complete a not-so-successful 15-days water fast last time, I was thrilled to give it a try again. I slip up on my diet too often after the 15-days water fast (a water fast which with a few cheats along the way) is over, so I'm thinking about starting over a water fast before I start a new diet plan. I just tired to plan what to eat today, tomorrow, next week, counting calorie and so on so sticking to a water fast will give me freedom from having to strain my brain of what to eat, while I can plan my next diet plan once the water fast is over.

I step on the scale to record my starting weight.

I am starting at 67.9kg.

I am not going to weigh myself every single day because that's not works for me. I tend to feel discourage to see up and down on the scale.

I will start today and end on August 20, 2012---that is 6 days before my friend's wedding. I'll make sure that there will be no social gathering ahead while I'm on a water fast, so that way I can escape myself from any food temptation.

Cheers, for me :)

Jennifer Aniston is one of the hottest 43 years of old in the world. She don't look her age. Her age-defying body is better than girls half her age. Voted Hottest Women of All Time by Men's Health magazine recently, she shares her age-defying factor to The Malaysian Women's Weekly Malaysia.

You spoke about laser porn. Have you done it?
I love laser porn! I've done laser, but I haven't tottaly figures it out yet. But it makes you feel good, and it'll help the sun spots go away. And Paul (Rudd), he looks younger than we first met!

Everybody is really interested in your lifestyle. How do you take care of yourself, you don't seem to age. Do you workout a lot?
I workout and drink lots of water.

Are you a runner now or do you still do yoga?
All of it. But I haven't done much in the last year after a terrible knee injury.

America Awards on January 28, 2012 and a flashback of Friends season 16 years back.

Do you have a diet you follow or no diet?
I stopped dieting when I figured out that you just have to eat regularly and within moderation. But I was like, the fads are too much...and the fasts. When you hear people saying, "I'm going on a cleanse,", "I'm going onto this", it's just so bad for your body.  I think it's really about honesty. This is going to sound so silly, but going in the sun for 20 minutes a day is really important, it's not the enemy. And I think being happy and smiling and laughing a lot is important too.

Eating Well to Lose Weight: 3 Common Reasons Why You Feel Sleepy After Eating

Yesterday wasn't as productive as I would have liked.

I set my alarm clock the night before and put it on top of my cupboard, far enough away that I have to get out of bed to shut it off. I mention about this quick tips to rise early in the morning and go straight into morning exercise in my previous post. But things do not turn out as I planned. I should have just get up and have a colder shower rather than rolling over and pressing the snooze button. I decided then to get into my exercise gear as soon as my kids go to their regular day time nap. But I find myself fall asleep with the kids when I get them to take a day nap after lunch.

Do you ever find yourself overcome by drowsiness after lunch, and you can't get any work done because you just want to crawl under your desk and go to sleep? Eranofu compile a list of the most common reasons why people get sleepy after eating.

1. Not Enough Sleep
You might feel tired at any time of the day if your body doesn't get enough sleep at nights. Lack of adequate sleep affects both your digestive system's effectiveness and your energy levels.

Solutions: Get enough quality sleep to prevent you from feeling sleepy after having a meal.

2. General Health And Fitness
Sleep is a natural way how a person heals oneself. Fit and healthy people need much less sleep because their energy levels are much higher. If you aren't physically fit, if you're avoiding exercise, or if you have a medical condition or illness, your afternoon energy levels may be impacted negatively.

Solutions: Exercising or being physically active after meals can aid in digestion and prevent loss in blood flow from contributing to drowsiness.  Getting fit and stay in shape can solve this problem.

3.  The Food
Simple carbohydrates such as candy, milk product, processed foods and fatty foods, soft drinks and syrups gives a boost to energy but it tend to break down quickly into blood sugar too, causing your energy levels to drop fast. Other common cause for feeling tired after eating is hidden food allergies. People who have food allergies normally experience excessive bloating and gas, constipation or diarrhea, in addition to fatigue.

Solution: Avoid processed foods. They may taste great on the spot but filled you with calorie that lack of nutrients. To feel more awake choose low-carb and high-protein food for lunch instead of sugar and flour like cakes, muffins and pasta meals, as their high flour and sugar content will bring on drowsiness. If you are eating properly but still feel tired and sleepy after eating, you may need to consult your doctor to receive a special screening to determine the cause of your fatigue after eating.

4. Overeating
When you eat, your brain diverts energy towards digestion, sending a bunch of red blood cells over to help break down the food and carry the nutrients all over your body. More energy used for digesting food means less energy can be used for running around.

Solution: Eat frequent, smaller meals to avoid the contribution of overeating. NormalBreathing.com suggest to practice reduced breathing and to increase body oxygenation to avoid feeling sleepy after eating.

5 Tips to Become a Morning Person

Be the first to comment!
It's kind of super slow updates here.

The last time I stepped on the scale, I was 68 kg. I weighed myself on Monday and here is the result.

I'm 1 kg down!
67.5 kg as I step on the scale on Monday's 2/7/12 Weigh-In.
Last 4 week: 68kg
This week : 67.5

I'm frustrated seeing very slow result on the scale, but I understand that this is the price I have to pay for not exercising and being out of control around foods.

I decided to rise early, shine as well with my workout routine to go back on track. I thought that morning is the best time to exercise because it frees me of having to wait for my kids to go to their regular day time nap before I can start my exercise routine. You also won't have to think about a time to shower before fancy dinner plans if you exercise in the morning. Morning exercise also give yourself more free time after work by not having to hurry to the gym, find parking, wait for a machine during the workout “rush hour” and get your exercise in.

I know it wasn't easy because I'm not a morning person but I know that soon I will adapt.  If you are just like me who can't wake up in the morning, you might find this WikiHow's 5 Tips to Become a Morning Person useful to you.

1. Reflect about the purpose of getting up earlier
Think about the reasons why you'd like to get up earlier in the mornings. It can be a routine matters such as checking emails and paying bills to be done first thing in morning while you're alert and get them out of the way; or maybe having quiet time to yourself -- read,write,exercise or meditate before anybody else in the house is up

2. Go to bed earlier
Sleep earlier to rise earlier. Consider going to bed earlier in increments. Start with 15 minutes earlier, with the expectation of getting up 15 minutes earlier, then gradually increase this to half an hour and then to an hour. Avoid watching TV, using the internet, or eating just before bedtime. Avoid bright lights, caffeine, and alcohol, as these will all wake you up more. Allow yourself to read in bed. Reading is a quiet activity and it will often induce sleep in the supine position.

3. Set your alarm clock
Make the alarm clock loud. If possible, make your alarm clock play loud music to wake you up, instead of the traditional beep. Keep the alarm clock far enough away that you have to get out of bed to shut it off. The effort of having to rise from bed to shut it off will bFe enough to start waking you up properly.

4. Help Wake Yourself Up
Trick your body into greater alertness. Turn on bright lights on first thing in the morning, or going out into the morning sun. Force yourself to leave the room – go to the bathroom, drink a glass of water, splash your face with water, stretch and make your bed, open the curtains, or anything that will overcome your inner chat about returning to bed.

5. Have a good breakfast
Breakfast is your energy source, a kick-starter for the rest of the day. Early bird has to wait longer until lunch time, so don't skip breakfast.

Are you an early morning riser or a night owl?
