Motivational Monday: How to Getting Past a Motivational Plateau

Weight Loss Motivation
Motivation: Found on 2 Fat Authors
I have everyday battle with weight loss motivation. Motivation to stick with the diet, motivation to get off my butt and exercise. Like I could be so motivated this week but after a few days that motivation high has gone. If you have the same issues like me, Dr. Phil has this prescription for us.

1. Don't rely on willpower -- it simply doesn't work.

Willpower is driven by emotions, which can be fickle. Emotions landed you into a weight problem, but they won't get you out of it. Instead, program yourself for success and stick to the program.

2. Give yourself permission to say, "I don't have to want to do this all the time."

By acknowledging that, you can respond to it accordingly. People who watch what they eat and exercise regularly don't necessarily want to, but they understand that their actions have consequences. They've programmed themselves for success.

I'm looking forward to getting inspired by you. How do you keep your weight loss motivation program active? Share in the comments.

  6. Well Hello there Honeybee! I came over from MBBL but I see that you are a SITS girl! Hey SITStah:) I'm in a bit of a conflict with number 1 only because I feel that will power is a strong quality in approaching a weight loss/stay healthy & fit journey. I kinda feel that will power is what allows you to program yourself? What do you think? #2 is spot on in my opinion! I think what helps with the exercise portion is choosing an activity that you love to participate in while knowing that even with your passion for it, there are days you just don't want to do it, consequently, you can veer from the plan every now and then. Just like we don't necessarily all love our jobs, but we have to go..but once in a while...we steal a sick day ;) Happy to find you and follow!

  7. Good luck on your journey! Motivation can be so hard to get and keep. I especially like the idea of not relying on willpower. That's so true!

  8. Interesting Article....Hormones also play a massive part. Insulin mainly, when you eat foods which cause spikes in your blood sugar it causes your body to produce insulin. The job of insulin is to convert the excess blood sugar to fat. If you consume 2500 calories in the wrong foods (sugary food say) then assume the insulin has converted 500 calories to fat. The problem is you've consumed 2500 cals and your body wants to burn 2500 cals. BUT the insulin has taken 500 cals to you fat cells. This makes you feel hungry and lethargic. You try to replace the 500 cals but you may eat the wrong foods again. The problem starts to compound. Just thought I'd share :o)
