Fitspiration Friday: Kajol's Weight Loss Secrets Revealed!

Be the first to comment!
Today I choose Kajol for Fitspiration Friday.
Kajol
I first watched her on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998) and became an avid a fan ever since. I became super excited when I heard Kajol is making a comeback for Dilwale (2015) with Shah Rukh Khan. Aside from looking very fair and lovely compare to her dusky skin in prior years, her appearance hasn't changed much. I'm impressed! How does she stays in great shape, especially after having two kids?

Kajol's Diet Plan
- keeping her mouth zipped
- eating from home before going out
- having 4-5 meals a day to 3 heavy meals.
- consume enough amount of water and have a diet rich in protein. She eats fish, eggs and chicken in good quantity.
- not have any kind of junk food.
- keeps discussing her diet plan with the dietician as and when required and coordinates it with her schedule.
On Screen Romance:
Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 1998 (Left) and Dilwale 2015 (Right)

Kajol's Fitness Plan
- she weight training. She lifts weights and can handle 150 pounds and more in what is known as the ‘dead lift’
- high intensity and calorie burning workout
- Kajol also does endurance training, yoga, lifts and squats as part of her fitness regimen.
- makes sure to workout for around 90 minutes daily.

And when you start working out, you realise you’re calmer, you’re nicer. People are reacting to you differently. Not because you’ve lost weight but because you’re calmer, your perspective has changed. All the angst we have, the stress we have can be controlled, if not completely eradicated, just by working out.

- Kajol

Kajol's motivation to stay in shape
Kajol shares to iDiva that every decision made in life matters, "Some people say — have that beer or have the French fries, nothing will happen with one French fry, eat that cheese popcorn, it doesn’t matter. But it does matter. Each decision you make in life matters, each meal matters. That’s the kind of thinking you should have where work is concerned, where a relationship is concerned. That applies to everything in your life."

She adds: "Whether it’s your husband, your next meal or your work. If the small things don’t matter then you miss out on the big picture. Make that extra effort for every relationship. Whether it’s with your parents, your children, your husband or your friends. It makes a difference to them."

"I try to give my kids alot of solo time where I play with them, talk to them, listen to them. Similarly, you give time for your workout. You slot a time for it, no matter what."

Kajol's word of wisdom to people who want to lose weight
You have to take charge of your life. If you want to lose weight, you have to be obsessed with it. You can’t depend upon your dietician, your trainer or various health aids that you have. You have to be organised. And believe me it isn’t that difficult.

The first 10 days are terrible because you have to break the lifelong habits that you have made. Also, when you go out with friends you have to order from the menu.

Now I want to hear from you: What is your opinion on celebrity weight loss? Is their diet and weight loss tips make sense to you?

Fitspiration Friday: Sandy's 70 lbs Weight Loss Story

3 Lovely Thoughts
My bad. I totally forgot about this weight loss story and it has been fermenting in my draft for weeks. This week's Fitspiration Friday is featuring the adorable Sandy Montanez. Be ready to be inspired as you read how she successfully went from 236 lbs to 186 lbs.

What made you decide to lose weight?
I decided to lose weight when noticed my size 16 was fitting a bit snug. I hated the person looking back at me in the refection of the mirror.

What challenges you face in losing weight?
I am a very impatient person. I like instant gratification. So having the patience day after day in order to see results was the worst.

What changes you made to lose weight?
I brought a Fitbit, joined MFP calorie counting site, downloaded the app on my cell and brought walking videos to do at home.

How long does it take to see your weight loss result?
I started Jan 5, 2015 and even though the scale number was going down I began to visually see results in May 2015. By July 2015 I had lost 50 lbs. I would still like to lose about 40 more lbs.

How has your life changed after losing weight?
I feel great, I get asked out on dates more. I can shop in normal people stores. I no longer have to struggle to walk up stairs, or to find clothes to wear. I love the person I see in the mirror.

How do you maintain your weight loss?
I continue to calorie count and log everything I put in my mouth. Even when I go out with friends and have a drink or two. I log it.

Your best weight loss tips
1 - Take it one day at a time
2 - Don't think of it as diet but more a weight loss journey
3 - One bad meal, or one bad day will not ruin what you have already accomplished
4 - If you mess up today, tomorrow is a new day
5 - Take it one meal at a time.

Share to us your diet plan.
It's all about eating less calories than you burn. Calories In vs Calories Out. As long as you create a caloric deficit, whether thru eating less or burning more calories thru working out, you will lose the weight.
  • Breakfast: egg white omelet with jimmy dean turkey sausages, peppers and onions
  • Lunch: Whole wheat thin bread slices with healthy choice turkey breast, lettuce and lactose free cheese and a fruit.
  • Dinner: 6 oz of a protein with veggies, and a sweet potato or yam.
  • AM/mid day/PM snacks: peanut butter with apple slices, pure protein shake, yogurt
Your workouts plan?
I do work out videos at home. Like Zumba, Turbofire, Walking to lose etc.

[Day 5 Drop 10 Challenge] Another Inspiring Weight Loss Story

4 Lovely Thoughts
It's only Day 5 on the Drop 10 Weight Loss Challenge today but my motivation starts to fade away already. I'm looking to shrink my belly so bad but it's so huge that I hopelessly can't imagine how it could ever melt away. I needed to always remind myself to not give up because I don’t want to be known as someone that is weak and gives up, especially to my children. I want to prove myself to the world and to myself that I CAN and WILL achieve what I set out to do. If someone else can do it then so can I.
Fitspiration, Drop 10 Weight Loss Challenge

Today's inspiration is from Tiffany. Hear her story of hope posted on her instagram @idependonme7. Remember to check her Instagram later, and follow her to get your daily dose of motivation.

"Everybody starts somewhere! My name is Tiffany. I have lost 106 pounds since September 2, 2014. Smallest weight since middle school. I had accepted last summer I would forever be that big girl. But nope I changed that! 7 months you ask? Yes. 7 months. Seven months of consistency. Seven months of getting up and going to the gym 4-5 days out of the week. Seven months of meal prepping. Seven months of saying no. Seven months of smiling. Seven months of looser clothing. Seven months of water. Seven months of goals. Seven months of happiness."

"At the end of August my grandpa (who was my life) passed away. I drank for almost a week straight and then at work they announced a weight loss competition. I joined---because why not? Might win some money. Then I got a couple friends to do one. I ended up winning both my work and friend competitions. After about 3 weeks---I was in it 150%. Since then I have been going full force at my weight loss. I made it thru the busiest holidays-2 trips-my dad being in ICU on life support- you name it! Events and things will happen every year. You just gotta figure out how bad you want it! Hard? Yes. But gets easier. Worth it? Worth EVERYTHING! Make 2015 your year! Nothing good comes without a little work!"

Fitspiration Friday: Music Composer Went From 92 kg to 52 kg in 18 Months!

2 Lovely Thoughts
My baby boy (no longer a baby but he will always be my baby) is officially turns 5 on March 30. And the day also marks my 5 years of struggling with weight loss after giving birth. It took me forever!
Looks like a whole new person: Tya dedicate herself to the clean eating lifestyle and lost 40 kg of weight.
Picture from kapanlagi.com

Kinda late for Fitspiration Friday but whatever gonna post this inspiring Success Story anyway. I'm browsing videos on YouTube when I came across this video of Tya Subiakto. She is a well known Indonesian composer and was invited to a one TV show in Indonesia to share about her weight loss story. From her heaviest weight of 92 kg, she slimmed down to 52 kg in only 18 months or 1 ½ year, NATURALLY. Wow!

People trying to lose weight always seeking for a quick result. The weight loss industry knows this best and that's why most of the weight loss product in the market bait consumers with "lose weight fast" tagline. For most people, the period of 1 and half year to lose a massive 40 kg weight sounds like a very long destination. Do your math calculation, Tya lost an average 5 pounds or 2.2 kg weight per month. Ehem..that's sound realistic. And as it's always been said, slow and steady wins the race.

Here's the video. If you're lazy to click the play button or maybe you don't quite understand what they are discussing about, please read on. I sum up below How Tya lost 40 kg in 18 months.

Wake Up Call

Tya is a music composer. Her sedentary job (and lifestyle) that requires her to sit most of the time lead to her weight gain and obesity. September 2012 was her biggest wake up call. Tya was at her heaviest weight of 92 kg, too heavy for her 165 cm frame. Shooting pain making it difficult for her to stand up while in a meeting. So she went for a medical check up straight away. USG test showed she had fatty liver.

Fatty liver occurs when excess fat accumulates inside liver cells. This means normal, healthy liver tissue becomes partly replaced with fatty tissue. The fat starts to invade the liver, gradually infiltrating the healthy liver areas, so that less and less healthy liver tissue remains. Fatty liver commonly caused by alcohol or obesity. And for Tya's case, her excess weight was the real culprit. The doctor didn't give her any medical treatment, she was advised to watch her diet instead.

Before and after weight loss: Tya still look pretty even before but she's now looks way better and healtier after reaching her ideal weight.
Picture from kapanlagi.com

Diet Plan

Tya started off her day with lemon water. She squeeze a whole lemon into an empty cup - no water but pure lemon and guzzle it down, followed by drinking 3 cup of warm water. Lemon is known as a great source of vitamin C. Lemon juice early in the morning helps flush out toxins built up and encourages the production of bile in your body.

For breakfast, Tya would normally blend these fruits, 1 mug respectively. So there are 5 mugs of fruit/vegetable juice altogether.
- Carrot
- Tomato
- Papaya
- Pineapple
- Apple

For lunch, she only ate steamed, boiled, grilled, and (sometimes) roasted foods. She would let herself EAT ANYTHING but strictly under these 5 golden rules:
1 - NO Rice
2 - NO Sugar
3 - NO Oil
4 - NO Frying
5 - NO Creamy Foods

For dinner, 4 mugs of fruit/vegetable juice of these fruits/veges:
- Carrot
- Tomato
- Papaya
- Apple

Exercise Plan

Workout idea: Elbow plank with side steps on couch
The couch potato workout: Tya demos the elbow plank workout with side steps to the TV host, Sarah Sechan.
Some people work out really hard so they can enjoy good food. As for Tya, she focused more on her diet. She eat clean most of the time and balance it with low-impact exercise. She did yoga for toning and strength, and 15-minutes cardio workout on treadmill.

Tya has also mastered the art of finding exercise options in her living room. She demos the elbow plank with side steps at minute 7:00 which she used to do every morning and night on her couch.

Cheat Day

Bad cravings can drive you nuts. Tya tame them up by setting a CHEAT DAY ONCE A WEEK. She eat clean all week and allow herself to eat whatever she's craving - ice cream, chocolate, cookies, etc on that one cheat day.

I am truly inspired by her success story. If this doesn't motivate you to lose weight and adopt a healthy lifestyle, I don't know what will.

Fitspiration Friday: No Surgery! Adry Unlocking the Secret of Her 150 Lbs Weight Loss

4 Lovely Thoughts
Inspiration time! Seems that I'm a little late again getting Fitspiration Friday post out. Well, I get asked few times by you readers to share my own story but the truth is... I'm not a success story yet. I am not at goal yet, I still have a long way to go. But wait, I am a work in progress. To quote Winston Churchill who said "success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm."

I conditionally give myself permission to succeed in all that I do.
Weight loss success story: Adry lost 150 pounds without surgery!

For now let's get inspired by Adriana Isabel. I get to know her through her Instagram account @adry_bella and she is such a lovely inspiring person for millions of people struggling with overweight and obesity.

READ: Top 12 Most Inspiring Weight Loss Pictures on Instagram

She lost an incredible 150 lbs – that's 68 kg –  in 2 years time, isn't that awesome? And her success in conquering bad habits, getting out from her comfort zone to reach weight loss success have influenced her followers positively.

Talk about her wake up call to lose weight, it's began due to health issues. Adry stands 5'2 tall and was almost 300 lbs when she began her weight loss journey. Her feet were swelling and her heart was over working causing her blood pressure to rise giving her constant headaches. "My legs were swelling, my lower back was always killing me, I suffered daily headaches, and was always tired and out of energy. Being in the medical field I knew that the swelling in my legs and feet was so not a good sign," she said in one of her Instagram post.

Kick starting weight loss is a real challenge. If you are looking to kick things up a notch in the weight-loss department, here's Adry's top 3 tips!

1. Jan.2012 started walking 1 mile 3-4 times a day.
Then became a runner. "If you want to lose weight, cardio is the best answer. Whether it's on the elliptical, gazelle, treadmill, stationary bike, or riding a bike. It all works."

By the end of that year and though the year 2013 she was running and added P90X workouts.

2. End of 2013 and through the beginning months of 2014 she was at her ultimate goal weight.
She said, "I wanted to tone my skin and found the courage to start BEACHBODY'S INSANITY. Somedays, when the DVD didn't seem hard enough, I would also run a few miles to burn some extra calories. It was definitely the hardest challenge I've had to push myself thorough, but I did it! I cried on my last day, never in my dreams did I ever imagine that I, Adry, the once obese-very slow-I hate anything that requires physical activity-girl would ever have the stamina to complete the program."

3.  Monitor what you eat.
Focus on complex carbs rather than simple carbs. Drink LOTS OF WATER, leave the sugary drinks, and no snacking on chips or cookies. Eat grilled/baked rather than fried, have 3 small meals, and 3 healthy snacks everyday. Keeps your metabolism working and you lose more calories.

Weight loss motivation. I believe some people struggle to lose any weight and others struggle with weight loss motivation or approach. What advice can she give to others struggling to lose weight?
A synonym for motivation is the word "reason". So what is my reason for working out, for eating healthy, for day after day avoiding the temptation of consuming the yummy sugary high carb foods I love? My motive | my reason | my motivation is simple. "Health/Happiness."
I will take being healthy/happy any day VS giving into a minute of pleasure.

IMAGINE you walk into a room. You look in front of you and there's a cookie . It's your favorite kind. You know you shouldn't, but it's freshly baked and it smells divine️. You grab it and devour it in less than a minute! To burn off that 150 calorie cookie you would have to run on the treadmill for at least 15-20 min. That doesn't seem so worth it, does it?

To be back to that girl that would satisfy her EVERY SINGLE CRAVING, but was obese, sad, depressed, and had low self esteem...OR...to be the girl that resists temptations, that eats healthy, takes care of the only body she's got and limits (NOT COMPLETELY CUTS OFF OR RESTRICTS) the sweets and high carb goodies...well, I'll take the healthy girl ANYDAY.

I question my motives/motivation on a daily basis.

I have to constantly remind myself why I'm doing this, the struggle is still within me. I still have cravings just like every single one of you, but I learned to train my body and my mind. It took time and practice. I still lose to temptations once in a while, but the fact that I don't let that urge take a hold of me is because I have fight inside. I will not go back! That fear---the fear of being Adry 3 years ago---is what keeps me on my toes. The sadness I left behind is my REASON to continue what I've done this far.
Excess skin. After significant weight loss, many individuals are concerned about excess skin in the abdomen and other areas. Excess skin is a common problem after weight loss. I saw Adry address about this in a reply to one of her followers on Facebook. She said, "All bodies are different. I can't sit here and tell you that your body will turn out like mine. A lot of factors take effect in a persons results. Age, height, genetics, body type, how long it takes you to lose the weight, what exercises you do/did to lose the weight."

Negativity. She also took a swipe at 'haters' who have questioned her amazing weight loss transformation. In one of her Instagram posts, Adry explained that she did not do any surgery or pills. All done natural.
Weight loss success story: Adry lost 150 pounds without surgery!

"I'm so fed up with comments saying how I SIMPLY MUST have had surgery or else where did all the excess skin go? Assumptions of such nature are normal, I suppose, but the main reason why my profile remains UNPRIVATE is because I am 100% honest about my journey. I have videos showing my stomach, endless posts talking and displaying my excess bits."

"I have never resulted to surgery, and if I ever do in the future you better believe that it will be shared with you ALL. There is no secret to my weight loss. I have shared my transformation since day one."

"I started with walking and incorporated small at home workouts. Crunches, push ups, side kicks, sit-ups. Eventually increasing the number of sets as the months went by. As I shredded the weight I also grew my stamina and resistance to the point where I began running for a short period of time, then walking for a short period of time and repeat. Little did I know that by month 7 I was running straight for 2 miles!!! I added P90x, then finished the INSANITY CHALLENGE. ️ It wasn't until early this year (2014) that I ever joined a gym."

"What my body has been through shows in the mirror and stares back at me every day. I am not ashamed, I take every stretch mark, every pound, every ounce of saggy skin as a trophy. I'd much rather be here than where I started! And until you don't personally struggle and go through what I've been through, sadly, you will never understand. I'm humbled by those who support me either way. And to those that just criticize, please don't waste your time with your unnecessary comments that will just get ignored."

Weight loss success story: Adry lost 150 pounds without surgery!

Adry's weight loss journey is so relatable. It is really inspiring to know that she went through this and managed to keep her willpower. She is a living proof that achieving weight loss goals is possible with dedication and support.
"We love to see success stories here, it gives a lot of hope to others. It hurt so much, every night I fell asleep thinking the same though 'I wish I was thin. Why can't I lose weight?' I cried myself to sleep plenty of nights. I never thought I'd be here, I thought I'd always be big, unhappy, depressed, unhealthy. It's due to all the weightloss shows, the commercials, the advertisements of all these magic slimming products--it's because of all that junk that we get confused and lost in what should be a journey of self discovery. They promise you things and show "success stories" to pull people in. I remember watching and asking myself if those stories were real. I chose not to believe, and instead, tried my own approach. Lowered my calories and ate healthier, started walking and eventually became a runner. My journey is not a SUCCESS STORY..it's MY STORY. The only thing I've succeeded on so far is at becoming a healthier person."

- Adry speaks about the 'I can't lose weight' syndrome.

Fitspiration Friday: Grace's Weight Loss — How She Lost 45 Lbs in 4 Months

7 Lovely Thoughts
I owe you Fitspiration Friday post last week, so here you go. Please welcome Grace.

When she first started her weight loss journey in May 2014, she was at her heaviest weight of 240 lbs (109 kg). Too heavy for her 5' 4" frame.

She was at the heaviest she has ever been. Depressed.

About 8 years when she was in high school, she wanted to be 'skinny' so she tried everything to lose weight — diet pills, crazy diets, adderall, laxatives, anorexia, bulimia, then...got into heavy heavy drugs. "I hated the person who I was becoming," she wrote. "Eventually, I just gave up trying for years."

And 5 months ago she finally decided to change her life.

She is so freaking inspiring! In a little over 4 months she had already lost around 45 lbs (20 kg). She did this on her own, no supplements or anything else, all natural — eating healthy and exercising!

How she kick started her weight-loss journey? Quoted from her Instagram post, she says:
"I have come a long way and there's no stopping me. I am finally doing this! I don't know what made me just finally say enough is enough and start losing weight, there was just a click in my head, like "okay, this time, I'm not giving up!" I don't know how to explain it. But once it clicks, you'll see what I mean :D CONGRATULATIONS to the people that have lost 10 lbs, 15 lbs, 30 lbs, EVEN to a 1 lb weight loss!! I know it takes a lot of hard work to be in this journey, but it all pays off! I Respect each and everyone's journey. Let's keep kicking ass !!!!!!!!!!!"
I believe many want to know her weight loss weapon. On one of her picture on Instagram, she captioned:
"I always give it my all, without excuses & with so much determination. I workout 6 days a week Monday through Saturday for about 45 minutes to an hour and 20 minutes. Depending on the calories I wanna burn that day. I always set a goal before I workout on how many calories I wanna burn that day. Today was 1,000. Sometimes it's 400, 500, 600 or more. I set a goal in my mind, and I hit it! When I first started working out, I'd set a goal between 250-300 calories, then moved it up to 500, trying to build up my endurance. Now I can go over 1,000 :) Never give up on your goals, they'll make you stronger ;)"
Weight loss didn't happens to me last year but I told myself that this time, this year I would lose the weight. Now that 9 months have passed I still stuck at the same weight I was when I first started (and probably gain another extra pounds - I haven't weighed myself in months.)

But reading Grace's story makes me feel hopeful. I've seen how far she has come. If you're not motivated by her accomplishment, I don't know what will.
Non-scale victory: Same shirt, 5 months difference.
Just a gentle reminder to myself. If she can do it, there's no reason why the rest of us can't." Amazing people do not just happen. Push yourself because no one is going to do it for you." Love this quotes!

Jojo's Weight Loss Transformation: Let's the picture speak for itself

Meet Jojo. She has a good sense of humor, so full of life and love! And she lost big too. Read on to find out how she made it and be ready to inspire.

HER WEIGHT LOSS DIARY (HEWLD): What is your starting weight and current weight?
Jojo: Heaviest weight 257, current 175.

HEWLD: What challenges you face in losing weight?
Jojo: Myself, finally realizing that it was ONLY me who could create my true happiness, so it took me 4 years to get serious.

HEWLD: Diet and exercise - which one help you lose weight faster?
Jojo: I don't believe in diet, but I did change my entire eating, and that's 90% of weight loss. I like to lift weights so I do both, and have slowly lost my weight.

HEWLD: What foods and habits were the most difficult for you to give up?
Jojo: Potato chips, and I will have them once or twice a month still

HEWLD: Do you believe in cheat days?
Jojo: Absolutely, I have one cheat day a week, and I still will make smart choices, and ususally just have one cheat meal a week, now a days.

HEWLD: How do you find the time to workout all day?
Jojo: It's 4% of the day, one hour....no one can say that they don't have that.....get rid of your excuses, and you will find results.

HEWLD: What is your favorite workout?
Jojo: Old school heavy lifting.

HEWLD: How long does it takes to see your weight loss result?
Jojo: Since November when I was 228, it's September and I am 175.

HEWLD: When you didn't lose weight for a few weeks, how did you keep motivated?
Jojo: I didn't gain my weight in a few weeks either, so to just quit after a few weeks is silly....and the scale doesn't matter its inches and how you feel inside

HEWLD: What advice would you give to your "50 pound heavier" self?
Jojo: I don't ever plan on speaking to you again.

Fitspiration Friday: How Theresa Lost 275 Pounds Without Exercise

14 Lovely Thoughts
You absolutely can lose weight without exercise. Exercise is better but losing weight doesn't have to be an expensive gym membership, and lots of time dedicated to the treadmill.

Theresa Borawski, 50 is our featured Fitspiration Friday because she is a walking-talking miracle! On her 5'8 frame Theresa used to weigh 428 pounds (194 kg) and depended on wheelchair to get around, but today she's a new person. She have lost 275 pounds (125 kg) in about 2 years; that is 137 pounds (62 kg) in a year or 11 pounds (5 kg) per month. And she did it all WITHOUT surgery, diet pills, or fad diets. Read her story and learn how you, too, can change your life!

Her Weight Loss Diary (HEWLD): What made you decide to lose weight?
Theresa: Over a period of about 6 weeks, I had several conversations with people who planted the seed for change; however, I had made no conscious decision…or even thought about…losing weight now or in the future. I just didn’t think it was possible without divine intervention or surgery. I lost two teeth as a result of a soda addiction and my Rheumatologist told me that he was at a loss about what to do to ease my pain as we had already tried multiple medication combinations with no success.

My sister was the final catalyst I needed to change. She called me on March 1, 2011 and told me that she was scheduled to have a bariatric weight loss surgery on St. Patrick’s Day. I begged her not to do it; I was afraid that something terrible would go wrong. Surgery seemed so drastic, and I did my best to talk her out of it. Ultimately the decision was hers, and when I hung up the phone, I proclaimed out-load "I’m going to show you: There is another way!" What was I going to show her, I wondered? I was 428 pounds and I couldn’t even walk. I hadn’t been on weight loss plan in years. I had no intention of dieting. I had no comprehension that I could lose more than 200 pounds without surgery.

And yet…here I am! In that very moment, everything just "clicked in my head" and I started to empty soda bottles down the drain and dump the sugar bowl in the trash. In that very moment, I completely made up my mind and changed my life! I have never looked back. "Old Theresa" and all her negative thinking died that day and "New Theresa" was born.

HEWLD: What challenges you face in losing weight?
Theresa: Losing the weight was actually easier than I thought at the beginning because I was losing it so rapidly and seeing results so I kept motivated.

One of the main challenges I faced was that I was unable to walk at first and could not do much physical activity, therefore, exercise was not an option in the beginning. It was about a year before I could walk without the use of a mobility device. (I was dependent on a wheeled walker, cane, or electric wheelchair prior to beginning this journey).

Other challenge rose from the high cost of fresh fruits and vegetables. I was eating a lot less food each day, but my grocery bill increased dramatically! I also lost 14 sizes (from a 40W to a ladies 12). Sometimes I would purchase an item of clothing and before I even got to wear it, it was too big. This is a “good” problem to have, but it can get quite costly. The main challenge came from the psychological and emotional changes that occurred as a result of the dramatic weight loss. Obviously I looked different “physically” but I had to learn to be an “average size person” for the first time in my life and to get to know the “New Theresa.”

HEWLD: What changes you made to lose weight?
Theresa: The very first thing I did was to eliminate sugar. Once I made the decision that I was going to try to change my life, I emptied all the bottles of soda I had in the house down the drain and the sugar bowl as well. I then began to count calories, eliminating high-calorie, and processed foods. I gave up fast food completely. I also changed the way I think about food. No longer was I using food as comfort or reward, but now it was fuel for my body. I became conscious of what I ate, and what I was thinking/feeling when I ate it. I had to change my habits and my entire way of life.

HEWLD: How long does it take to see your weight loss result?
Theresa: Because I was so heavy to begin with, I lost weight a very quick pace, so I saw results right away, however, it was only after I had lost 50 pounds or so that others began to notice. It took me just about 2 years to lose the entire 270+ pounds.

HEWLD: How has your life changed after losing weight?
Theresa: I have been given a 2nd chance at life. Three years ago I was unable to walk; now I ride a bicycle and can do just about anything. My medication needs have been reduced significantly and I am no longer dependent on strong painkillers to get through the day because I have eliminated the stress off my joints. I love to shop and dress up. I am happier and healthier than I have ever been in my life! In addition, I get the opportunity to share my story on a regular basis with others who are hopeless. I write a blog and manage a support group on Facebook called WE CAN CHANGE OUR LIVES, and have done some motivational speaking. I have been blessed beyond measure and am not longer a spectator in life; I am an active participant!

HEWLD: How do you maintain your weight loss?
Theresa: Maintaining the weight loss is much harder than losing it. I have kept the weight off (within a 5-7 pound leeway) for over a year now by doing the same thing I did to lose it. From day one, this was not a “diet” but rather a lifestyle. From day one…and to this day… I have not eaten anything off plan, not even one cookie or potato chip. I made a vow on the first day of my journey that I would not do anything then that I wasn’t willing and able to do for the rest of my life. So far, so good, however, I am struggling to lose the couple of pounds I put on over the harsh winter in northern Michigan that prevented me from walking, riding my bike, and getting much activity.

THERESA'S 5 BEST WEIGHT LOSS TIPS

1. Don’t begin a “diet” but rather look at it as a “journey” that will last until the day you die.
Too many times people go on diets and when they reach their goal, they go back to their old way of life and gain the weight back. Don’t give up anything that you can’t live without for the rest of your life. I knew that I couldn’t or didn’t want to drink black coffee for the rest of my life so I allotted some of my calories each day to sugar-free French Vanilla coffee creamer. Three years into this journey and I’m still eating the same foods I did while losing weight, only now I am less strict about the quantity. I will treat myself to as much fruit or Greek yogurt that I want.

2. Don’t focus on how far you have to go to reach your goal.
Instead, set small goals and when you reach them you will be motivated and encouraged to continue to reach another goal. Focus on one step at a time and before you know it, you will be at the top of your staircase!

3. Enjoy the process!
Celebrate the special moments on the journey. Rejoice each time you discover something new that you can do. I remember the day I could cross my legs for the first time in years and the sheer joy of being able to walk to my mailbox for the first time without a cane. Other things like moving the belt over a notch or fitting into a smaller size is another opportunity to do the “Happy Dance!” Let those moments motivate and inspire you.

4. Find something that will motivate YOU.
Don’t try to lose weight for someone else; to make someone love you more; to find a spouse or partner; to look good for a special event like a wedding or class reunion. If your motivation is not specifically about YOU, then you may discover that once the event passes, you give up on the journey and gain the weight back, or you discover that the people in your life liked you better when you were heavier. Make this journey about YOU!

5. Don’t ever give up.
Don’t let a small set-back or plateau deter you from your dream of being healthier and happier. We are blessed with a new day; a new opportunity; a new beginning each morning. If you fall off track or give into temptation, then simply start all over again. Don’t ever….ever….ever…give up! You can change your life!

HEWLD: Share to us your diet plan.
Theresa: I never followed any specific diet plan. I just counted calories, limiting myself to about 1000-1200 in the beginning. I tried to choose foods that were low in calories but gave me more “bang for my buck.” In other words, it made more sense for me to eat an entire bag of frozen vegetables than a cookie. I did not allow any “off” days or treats for holidays or special occasions. I was too afraid that I would fall into the trap of making excuses if I allowed myself to splurge on the weekend or for a party. I’m addicted to sugar and I know that even a little would lead to a little more, and so forth. I also drank a lot of flavored water; in fact, I drink almost two gallons each day.
  • For breakfast every day, I choose from oatmeal, eggs, fruit or yogurt. Fortunately I am a creature of habit and can eat the same thing day after day.
  • For lunch, I have either a can of low-calorie soup or Greek yogurt and fruit. Sometimes I’ll eat a protein bar or Fiber One bar if I am still hungry.
  • Snacks include an assortment of yogurt, fruit, rice cakes, or air-popped popcorn. I absolutely love watermelon!
  • For dinner, I eat chicken, turkey burger, pork, and a lot of vegetables and salads. I really like stir-fry. I eat very little bread or pasta, but will use the low-calorie whole grain bread once in a while to have a turkey burger or sandwich. With apples in season now, I’ve been enjoying baked apples with a bit of sweetener and cinnamon.

HEWLD: Share to us your workout.
Theresa: As unusual as this sounds, I do not like exercise and I do not workout. Rather I like being active and have had to find ways to incorporate activity into my daily life. I lift weights while sitting in the lazy boy watching the morning news. I do squats while waiting for my computer to boot up, the microwave to ding, or while on the phone. I walk and ride my bike; work in my garden; take the stairs, and build as much physical activity as I can into each day.

Weight Loss Success Stories: Top 12 Most Inspiring Weight Loss Photos on Instagram

11 Lovely Thoughts
30th day on Slim-Possible-April challenge. April is basically over. But I haven't accomplished everything I wanted to. I am stuck! Sometimes I become so motivated to exercise, I am in control of what I eat. But sometimes I feel like giving up, I'm screwing up my diet and everything just get messed up. We all need a little motivation from time to time. Zig Ziglar once said, "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily."

I am spending too much unnecessary time on Facebook so I decided to deactivate my account temporarily few months back. I joined Instagram and am pretty much in love with it since then because I found out that this is an inspiring place when you follow the right people. Watching a video fit Instagram igers slaying away at the gym, or to see before and after weight loss picture will motivate one to hit the gym. If you need a shot of inspiration, just check out these igers.

The caption says, "O'magosh!! I think my shirt is a bit stretched, dontcha think?! And no, I wasn't preggers in that first pic! Haha! That pic was taken Approx 8 months ago! I remember being mad that I had let myself get to that point in my weight and lifestyle as I looked in the mirror. I'm so thankful that I started this journey and didn't quit all those times I felt like quitting. I'm glad I kept telling myself (out loud) that I can do this! It's all about determination, y'all!!"

It really took her only LESS than a year to look this awesome. She's living proof that you CAN do anything you put your mind to do. She wrote a caption in one of her picture about her weight loss story: "My problems with gain weight began really, as I finished the University. After graduating from the University in the year 2005, my life changed in a big way! The picture from the posting is from the year 2005. I gone in and out of so many fulltime- jobs, and my last job (which lasted 5 years) was completely sedentary and I development me to a work- alcoholic. I started going out more and eating a lot more unhealthy food. I was a emotional and stress eater. I mean that I would eat in response to my emotions. I would eat whenever I feel stressed, angry or bored. My eating had nothing always to do with hunger, but based on my emotions and stress.

2012 and 2013 was hard years for me. In the year 2012 I shortly canceled my upcoming wedding and was in June 2013 heavy bitterly disappointed from persons in my environment. ️It has made a great impact ️in my mind. I decided at this very second to change my life and wanted healty and fit. It make "klick" and I started the next day. The good was by me, that the years has made me stronger about the motto: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger".

Many people ask me, what is my secret: "To change your weight, first change your mind and focus on the progress". I truly believe that it is they key to success. "Happiness is not something ready made. It comes from your own actions. Believe in yourself. Be your own friend, and supporter. Give the world the best you've got, and good things will come back to you in return. Stay focused, Stay Strong!" Best advice ever.

About this picture, she wrote, "Ohhh lawdy yes this is me and yes I'm wearing the exact same outfit haha ok how many of you had that one outfit or style you wore because it was tight but stretchy? That was this for me... Except #THEN it was a shirt and I squeezed into thinking it made me look thinner lol all bad I know... #NOW it's a dress and looks so much better on me. At the peek of my illness and on medication I was back up and close to my pregnancy weight.

It's crazy to see this before picture and know behind that smile I was broken, not knowing where my health would end up was the biggest fear for me because of my family. Now I give no attention to what the doctors have told me and push through the pain everyday without medication."

Real weight loss story. She lost over 200lbs working out at home and with healthy diet. She shared, "the most common question I get asked is...."How did you lose all that weight?!" I did it with diet and exercise I applied two simple rules calories in - calories out= weightloss. I also used guided programs (like you can use with a trainer) except mine came on DVD. Yep I workout at home and very rarely will you see me go to a gym just to workout. I'm 5'3 and used to weigh 381lbs. I have lost over 220lbs and I feel amazing.

I will have been on this journey three years in June and I have no plans on turning back. I know my weight will fluctuate throughout my life but I will never be as unhealthy as I was. This goal isn't unreachable for anybody , you all can do this. Keep pushing for your goals!!"

Losing weight is one of the top New Years Resolutions made but resolutions fade and disappear in a few weeks. This is something we need to hear from Adry's point of view: "Forget the fact that it's a new year and that your "New Years resolution" is to drop a few pounds. So many times we make ourselves promises that we whole heartedly aim to commit to but ultimately fail at, well, committing. So forget the new-year stuff, see this day as what it really is...A NEW DAY! Another chance to try and give it all you've got. A whole new opportunity to fight for something you really want. And no matter how many times you fail, don't hate yourself because you had the strength to try! That effort there separates you from all the rest.

In my own experience, every single time I failed, it only made me try even more the next day. That was to prove to myself that I could, that I would, and that I would not-could not allow myself to give up on me. So grab on, head strong, hopes high...it's going to be a looooooong ride. But in the end, you'll win...because the only one your fighting IS Y.O.U.

Many people believe that only celebrity can snap back into pre-baby shape. But Jenn is proof that this is not true! She's mom of 3 and have lost 130 lbs. She says in one of her Instagram post, "Don't ever be ashamed of your story for it may inspire others for those of you new to my story I'll share some facts about me, the not so glamorous ones."

"Stretch Marks and loose skin are very much present on my body. I've lost 130 lbs. No secrets. No pills. No surgery. It took me 7 years of watching my food and working out. I'm a binge eater.... I've probably gone a month or so without binging. I try and celebrate the small victories and not dwell on it too much when I do binge .... I actually was inspired to do this post tonight because I binged today. I lift weights 5 days a week and I teach Zumba twice a week. I'm human. I mess up. I learn from my mistakes. I'm emotional. I'm sensitive. I'm generally highly caffeinated. I love, I love deeply. I'm always a work in progress."

8. @weightlossforthewin

Her story: "I started my journey January 7, 2013 and my starting weight was 200 lbs. I was unhappy unhealthy and really negative. Once I saw the 200 on the scale I made a promise to myself to change and for real this time(I have failed many times in the past) and in my first two weeks I lost 10 pounds! It was then I really believed I could change my life. So I continued eating healthy (less carbs, less sugar) no junk, whole grains on occasion, lean meats and fish, fruits and LOTS of vegetables.

I found myself learning more and more as I went on and the longer I kept up healthy eating and working out the easier it became. By may I had lost 50 pounds. It was the most amazing accomplishment for me to lose 50 pounds in 5 months. I continued and the weight continued to fall off. By September 2013 I had reached 136 pounds- I was in shock I never remembered weighing myself and being in it."

I interviewed Carla about her incredible weight loss and ever since, I’ve been following her journey on Instagram. She said in one of her Instagram post, "When I gave birth to my princess 4 years ago, I never thought I could possibly get down to my pre-baby weight. I accepted that my body has changed and that it was ok, I just have to live with it.

Then realize was I became very insecure-avoided going out with friends and family, never went near the pools/beach, avoided taking pictures, shopping was dreadful-I never could find anything that I felt confident in, was tired and stress all the time! so anyway I decided to make a change! Took a lot to get here but 4 years later, I have done it! And you can do it too! I failed a million times but I never gave up!"

10. @malzisfit
before and after weight loss photos, weight loss success story

I also interviewed Mallory about her 97-pounds weight loss story - she’s incredible! In one of her #TransformationTuesday picture she captioning, "The left picture was a girl who had no self respect and ate her feelings. She hit 217lbs at the age of 16 because she had given up on herself. At 17 she tried different diets like Weight Watchers but nothing really stuck, the determination wasn't there, until she turned 20 and it finally clicked. "If I keep giving up then trying again, why don't I stop giving up?" She started educating herself on nutrition, frequenting the gym, setting long and short term goals, and being kind to herself. It was bumpy in the beginning but the passion was so strong nothing could stop her. She started killing all of her goals, made fitness a constant in her life, and practiced positive thinking about herself and her body. It became a lifestyle; she became Malzisfit... My point is that people change.

You overcome so many obstacles in this journey that make you a stronger and more confident person. If you can push through those obstacles, like a dreaded workout or that extra piece of cake staring you down, and if you can accept that sometimes you won't overcome them, if you can commit yourself to this journey with all of its bumps and turns and drop-offs, then you will get there. You will reach your goal, if you never ever give up."

"It is unbelievable to me at times how much I've lost. Even my feet shrunk! I used to be able to wear 9.5/10 and now I wear 6.5/7! Even my hands look different to me. My ring size now is a 5.5. From a 9.5. Before my clothes size was 5X or a tight 28 (I didn't want to buy a bigger size). Now my clothes ranges from a size 4 to a size 8 (& everything in between). When I shop, I don't even bother trying on clothes. I just buy it! I never would've done that before. I needs to make sure it fit right. Honestly, it has been totally liberating. I'd do it again today if I had to!"

I love this girl. Christine is an awesome source of inspiration! About her weight loss story she wrote, "I had my son early April of 2012 and when I stepped on the scale at the hospital when I was in labor, I weighed 216 pounds. I'm 5'2, that's a lot of weight on my frame. When we came home with CarterMan it wasn't the easiest first year. Carter was colic for the first 7-8 months and that's really discouraging to try and focus on anything other than the needs of him. It wasn't until a few months before his first birthday I started eating clean and doing some at home workouts. I dropped 30 pounds in 3 months, the photo of me on the left is at that point. I then decided to start training and got a gym membership. Here we are 9 months later (photo on the right) and I'm still eating clean and training on a regular basis. This has become my #healthylifestyle I lost another 57 pounds over the course of the last 9 months. And while my weight hasn't moved on the scale in the past 3 months, I have dropped 2 pant sizes. Sz. 16 was my first pair on non maternity jeans.Today I'm in a size 3/4.

Don't trust the scale, trust the process. Take progress photos, measure yourself with tape, don't rely on the scale. It can be so discouraging. I want to share my story in hopes that it may help someone on their journey. I did this for me, and in turn it has benefited every person that crosses my path--there is no other way to put it, I am just HAPPIER."

Motivational Monday: Angelica's Weight Loss Success - 60 Pounds (27 kg) Down!

3 Lovely Thoughts
I found Angelica Recaido on Instagram. Her weight loss story have definitely inspired me! And for Motivational Monday I reblog her story here to remind me that nothing is impossible and I hope her weight loss journey can help kick-start whatever your weight loss or fitness goals might be.
Drastic weight loss transformation, before and after weight loss, weight loss success story

Weight Loss Achievement
She dropped 60+ pounds (27 kg) in 6 months, so average 10 pounds (5 kg) per month.

Weight Loss Wake-Up Call
Angelica wrote on her blog that getting started was the hardest part when it comes to losing weight. Like most of us, she keeps making excuses for being overweight. "I don't have running shoes," "Bob's party is this Saturday," "Mom just bought my favorite ice cream and chips," "I'm tired," "I have arthritis," "Life's short, so eat what you like," "I'm fat. This is how God created me to be," and the famous one, "I'm tooooo BUSY." But the decision that finally made her weight loss resolution stick began when she was admitted in hospital to go through her infusion treatment for her arthritis. Seeing all those sick people next to her made her think about her life and health. She didn't want to see herself confined to the hospital bed, knowing she could have prevented diabetes or heart complications.

Diet Plan
She didn't take any pills to lose weight! She simply change her "diet" to clean eating and stayed within a 1200 calorie diet. She would eat anything healthy and more filling as long as the total daily doesn't exceed her calorie budget. She focuses on not just her portion size but change her eating habit as well. "What are the benefits of this food?" This is the question she would ask to herself before eating.

Fitness Routine
She had no gym membership when she started working out. Her goal is just to be active and move around. She walked a mile for a week, started jogging on week 2, and eventually worked up to Insanity with Shaun T.

Weight Loss Hot Tips
1. YOU have to first be healthy
Don't focus on how you look and what you should look like. Along with being healthy and fit will come those benefits of looking leaner.

2. Get up and Exercise
There are so many websites (YouTube) that offer free workout routines. Utilize them all.

3. Start off with making small changes to your lifestyle
For instance, start with eliminating rice or sugary drinks.

4. Never give up
If you screwed up today, don't say you'll make up tomorrow or next week or next month. Just make healthier decisions after that.
