Celebrity Diets: The Olsen Twins Drink Coffee to Lose Weight

The Olsen twins
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen
Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are Hollywood's most famous young twins in the world. They are actresses since childhood. They were first famous as Michelle Tanner on Full House.

The twins confess to eat salads, sushi, light coke and Starbucks coffee.  Ashley drinks coffee to speed up her metabolism and keep her energy up. Mary-Kate Olsen, who downs two to four Starbucks drinks a day, has been drinking coffee for much of her life. "I remember at 10 sneaking my own coffee and pouring a ton of sugar in and going up to the playroom and drinking it," Olsen told W magazine in January 2006.

Drinking coffee help you lose weight. If this statement encourage you to drink more coffee, read the 65 myths below and discover the facts about coffee

Myth: Coffee gives you more energy for a tougher workout that lasts longer, making it possible to burn more calories.
Fact: Coffee contains caffeine which is a stimulant. It can enable people to feel more alert and help them to be more active, leading to weight loss. Drinking coffee during the afternoon or after dinner can help to reduce cravings for snacks or sweets, by filling the stomach and suppressing the appetite, without the addition of calories.

Myth:  Caffeine speeds up your metabolism making it easier for us to burn more calories --- even while at rest.
Fact: Coffee might also stimulate your metabolism by increasing your rate of thermogenesis (how your body burns calories to create heat and energy). However, this is only a slight increase and studies have not shown it to have a very large effect on weight loss.

Myth: Coffee has diuretic effect and caused increased urination.
Fact: Studies have shown that drinking it in moderation does not lead to water loss. Indeed, drinking coffee increases your fluid intake by the same amount as drinking water, which might make it easier for those who love coffee but dislike water to keep their fluids up.

Myth: Coffee requires your pancreas to over-work. This is because your pancreas now has to produce extra insulin to reduce this  extra blood sugar. This can lead to overeating and eventually might turn into diabetes.
Fact: Recent studies have shown that coffee itself is not the cause of the insulin resistance. The sugar often used in coffee is more likely a factor, as well as other unhealthy lifestyle choices.

Myth: Coffee is a good source of antioxidant.
Fact: Study by researchers at the University of Scranton (Pa.) shows that coffee provides more than just a morning jolt; that steaming cup of java is also the number one source of antioxidants in the U.S. diet.

Myth: Coffee can cause insomnia, which might also lead to a higher consumption of calories.
Fact: Heavy caffeine users suffer from sleep-deprivation because their nervous system is too stimulated to allow them deep, restful or prolonged sleep. Coffee contains other chemicals which stimulate the production of cortisone and adrenaline. These chemicals increase stress levels, and cortisone has been linked with an increase in abdomen fat, which causes more health concerns than fat in other areas.

Coffee is very controversial when it comes to weight loss. Some say that it can be of benefit to dieters, while others say that it can be detrimental to a weight loss plan. The bottom line is, coffee most likely has both positive and negative effects on weight loss, depending on how it's consumed and other factors.
